Clearing Out

Do you feel like you’ve created the space - both mentally and physically - that you need to create and pursue your dreams? Or, is your life feeling too cluttered?

I remember the point in my life where it felt like everything I’d worked towards was unravelling, so I chose to visit a psychic medium for my first ever reading.

I was beginning to question what was the purpose of life?

Coincidences were becoming too coincidental; my friends found them “spooky”.

You’re already over halfway through 2018 - how are you feeling?

You know those moments of telepathy that have your friends saying, “I was just about to call you and you rang!”

But when it happens too often, it unnerves them.

The medium explained that I had psychic gifts and that she could help me to unlock them, but that my life was too busy for her to help me develop my abilities.

I didn’t have the space, she said.

She was right.

If you want to introduce something new into your life, you have to be willing to create the space for it.

That often means deciding what you’re prepared to let go of in order to usher in what you now desire.

We can begin the process of clearing out on a number of levels, some of which I’ve shared below.

If you’re drawn to any one of them, it may be that your soul desires you to make changes in that area of your life.

Clearing Out

Electronically - it’s great to unplug and switch off each night.

We’re surrounded by wifi on public transport, public places, our neighbours’ internet routers and our own.

Then there’s smart meters, laptops, mobile phones, Fitbits, etc. that are all emitting EMFs (Electro Magnetic Fields).

Your body’s energetic field is electromagnetic.

If you want to minimise disturbances to your body’s natural field, perhaps it’s worth exploring if you can remove or reduce the number of wireless devices in your environment?

Nutritionally - whether you fancy fasting, detoxing, juicing, or colonic irrigation and coffee enemas, you’ll probably feel clearer after flushing out your system.

As a child, my mother used to “lace” our porridge with senna pods every Sunday morning, to keep us “regular”.

The only issue with that was that there was only one toilet and six children queuing.

Spiritually - meditate, sit down in a quiet space and chant “Om”.

Take a look around you - your outer world reflects your inner world.

If your internal state is feeling chaotic, you’ll probably see evidence of it reflected in your surroundings.

What does your office desk look like? Or your living space?

Go for a walk. Connect with nature. Walk in nearby woodlands or parks.

Release your worries while being in the natural environment.

Physically - movement, dance, pilates, yoga and laughter are all good for you and will help to clear out any feelings of being sluggish or low energy.

Go for a walk, run or swim. Your body wasn’t designed for a sedentary lifestyle, so clear out any stagnant energy by getting moving.

You can try starting your day by drinking lemon in hot water.

It’s purported to help flush the digestive system out and rehydrate the body, as well as improving energy levels.

Your Physical Environment - if you’re a hoarder, prone to clutter, you may need a helping hand from Marie Kondo.

Invest in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying book if you’re serious about decluttering, or hire someone to organise your rooms and cupboards.

Take one corner of a room. Spend ten minutes blitzing it.

You may find that you spend longer than you intended clearing the area.

Gradually, the cleared area will expand.

Use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to tap on any beliefs that you may have about hoarding or holding onto clutter.

For example, “Waste not, want not,” or “Don’t throw it out; you never know when it may come in handy.”

These behaviours originate from an era when your parents and grandparents were striving to live.

You are living in an era where you have the opportunity to thrive. It’s time to let the old values and clutter go.

Feng shui your workplace and home, so energy flows more productively for prosperity, happiness and luck.

Emotionally - if you know you’re carrying emotional baggage from old relationships, clearing out negative emotions associated with these memories is the best gift you can give yourself.

One tool you can use to work on difficult emotions is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), tapping on various points on your body to improve how you feel.

If you have traumatic events in your life, it’s best to work with a practitioner who can lead you safely through difficult memories.

When you “stuff” them down, they stick around, so the only way to clear them out is to work on releasing them.

Besides, you deserve to be free from your past.

Mentally - if your mind feels cluttered, empty it. Use pen and paper. Create lists.

Any information you can commit to paper or a digital device do, so your head isn’t full of mental to-do lists.

If you have ideas that you’ve placed on the “back burner”, write them in a notepad instead of carrying it around in your head.

If need be, keep a pad and pen by your bedside so that you can jot down any genius ideas that come to mind at 3AM.

Focus more on the present moment.

If you’re worrying about the future or focused on what happened in the past, there’s not much space to remain present.

Meditate for ten minutes, twice a day. Allow yourself to focus on your breath.

Indulge in this simple “me time”. You’ll feel more present and grounded.

Walking barefoot in your garden will also help you to feel more grounded, connecting with the earth, shifting your focus from your mind into your body.

How are you clearing out to prepare for the remainder of 2018?
