Four Critical Steps to Create a Game Changing Team

Groundbreaking creativity and innovation may lie within an individual, but it takes a game-changing team to achieve long-term transformation.

Think of Boeing, Google and Apple as examples of successful game-changing teams.

In today’s digital world, we need to carry on with business as usual while we challenge ourselves to invent, implement and execute creative change.

The key to success is to transform individual action into collective power.

Not everyone is a game changer but everyone can follow four steps to make a gamechanging impact.

1. Develop strong values.

It is worthwhile spending time developing a set of strong values to show what you stand for.

Employees and customers will buy into your vision, share your values, and help you turn great ideas into reality.

Strong values position your proposition and help you build your team.

When you communicate strong values, you will attract the kind of people who match your values and want to be part of your vision, which is the perfect way to identify the talent you need around you.

2. Focus on how you can make an impact.

You can make an impact through:

• People – enabling everyone

• Ideas – exploring possibilities and making sense of them

• Tasks – getting things done efficiently and well

Now is the time to focus on the real impact that you can make personally as well as with others in your team.

Focus on who is best for the job at hand.

By understanding how each person will make an impact through their ideas and the actions they take, you can ensure they contribute to the team, project and wider organisation, making you far more likely to create a game-changing culture.

3. Identify talent.

Once you understand how you make your impact, it’s important to identify the talent you need in your team.

The right people in your team will help you make a game-changing impact as an entrepreneur.

The Entrepreneur Impact Profile (see www.EnSpirit.Global) provides entrepreneurs and business owners with a groundbreaking framework to identify the right talent.

It empowers them to maximise their awareness of the contributions that they make and helps them understand their entrepreneurial strengths.

This enables them to accelerate their impact on the world with some extraordinary results.

The Entrepreneur Impact Profile is powered by the GC Index®, which was created by Dr John Mervyn-Smith and Prof. Adrian Furnham following the launch of ‘The DNA of a Game Changer’ study.

The Entrepreneur Impact Profile (EIP):

• Measures how you make your best impact in the world as a business owner or entrepreneur
• Gives you a framework to ask the direct questions that maximise your impact
• Identifies how each team member will contribute to the team and organisation
• Helps you to create entrepreneurial gamechanging teams and safe-to-fail cultures
• Creates a talent management framework that is inclusive and drives tangible business impact

The Entrepreneur Impact Profile is made up of five key roles:

1. The Game Changer – transforms the future (sees possibilities)
2. The Strategist – maps the future (sees patterns)
3. The Implementer – builds the future (sees practicalities)
4. The Polisher – creates a future to be proud of (sees potential)
5. The Playmaker – orchestrates the future (sees people)

As an entrepreneur or business owner, you cannot create anything great in the world without the right team working with you.

It’s often the dynamic of the team that moves things on and creates transformational change.

Understanding your profile is a liberating experience as you then know what you need to focus on and who you need around you.

Do you need someone who can understand what needs to be done now – an implementer?

Do you need someone to make things better – a polisher?

Do you need someone to map out the future – a strategist?

4. Focus on culture.

In today’s fast-paced digital world, it’s important for everyone within the business to feel they have the freedom to challenge things.

We need everyone to be looking for new opportunities.

We also need everyone to shift their mindsets to put impact at the heart of everything they do and make their own game-changing contribution.

These four critical steps will help to unleash the game-changing impact you can make on the world.

The people who make a game-changing impact aren’t superhuman.

They don’t have special powers; they are not born with an extra bit of something.

Since I have been running my own business, by observing my clients and being around some extraordinary people, I have found there are fundamental patterns to making a game-changing impact.

Are you a Game Changer, Srategist, Implementer, Polisher or Playmaker?
